Join Louise Wallis and Rachel Spain for a beautifully balanced yoga practice of Sattva Flow and Yin Yoga. At Yoga Rocks, a gorgeous new Yoga studio in North London with wonderful high-spec facilities including showers, lockers and changing rooms.

Louise and Rachel are keen to share the benefits of their recent Yoga trainings, Rachel at Sattva Yoga Academy in India, and Louise in Croatia with legendary American teacher Doug Swenson. Expect to learn some new pranayama (breathing) and kriya (energy sensitivity) techniques, before moving into a flowing vinyasa dance on the mat with Rachel followed by a deep and restorative yin session with Louise, to leave you feeling super zen and grounded.

Vegan snacks and chats will follow the session.

After the success of last year's Festival, I'm thrilled to be participating again. This year, I'm hosting 5 free Workshops (4 Yoga, 1 Pilates), on the dates below. These are open to all adults and you don't need to be a Haringey resident! Places are limited, so you need to book using the links below.

BEFORE BOOKING - PLEASE NOTE:

The Superpowers of a Plantbased Yoga Practice

An afternoon of TED-style talks - Keynote Speaker Stewart Gilchrist

Aimed at Yoga practitioners and teachers, and exploring the life and performance-enhancing effects of a plant-based diet, this event looks at the synergy between Yoga and veganism, and the benefits of combining these two practices.

Keynote Speaker Stewart Gilchrist - a self-proclaimed "spiritual anarchist" - is one of London's most popular and charismatic Yoga Teachers, whose clients have included Woody Harrelson, and Kate Moss. His TEDX talk on Breathing at the London Business School has had over 170,000 views.

It's no coincidence that Yoga & Veganism have seen a big surge in recent years, for they both offer practitioners the chance to: a) retain / regain some control over their bodies, minds, and thus their lives, and b) affirm positive choices on a regular / daily basis. So combining the two can be superpowerful.

The quintessential Yogic diet is seen as vegetarian - probably because of India's vegetarian tradition. Yet we are now discovering that a fully plant-based diet can be optimal on many levels - not least for ourselves, in terms of fitness, health, and well-being (physical, mental & spiritual). But also in terms of caring for this planet and each other - by safeguarding animals and wildlife, conserving resources, and protecting the environment. 

This is why so many contemporary Yoga teachers and students practice veganism in conjuncton with Yoga, and encourage other Yogis to try it.

We've gathered some of the leaders in this field to share their stories and expereinces, and we can promise lots of laughs - Stewart Gilchrist in particular, is renowned for his humour.

Other speakers include Louise Wallis (Yoga Teacher & founder of World Vegan Day), Jonathan Leighton (Authoor of The Battle for Compassion: Ethics in an Apathetic Universe), and Adam Biddle (Yoga Teacher & Social Media expert).

The venue, Karamel, is a Time Out award-winning arts venue and restaurant specialising in vegan food and drink.

Yin Yoga is an increasingly popular style of Yoga, providing a counter-balance to the more dynamic forms. An antidote to modern 'overload', especially helpful when you're tired, or over-stimulated, with an overactive mind & erratic energy levels.

Event 2 (Muswell Hill): FREE Yoga & Mindfulness Workshop

DATE: Saturday 30th June  /  TIME: 2.00-3.30pm

VENUE: Muswell Hill Methodist Church, 28 Pages Lane, N10 1PP (car park + free street parking)

Learn to linger in the moment, move mindfully with intention, and connect with your breath. Calm your mind, energise your body, and deeply relax with this 90 min workshop. The first half is Mindfulness, the second half Yoga and Yoga Nidra, a full-body Relaxation. The workshop is in the Garden Room, with a view of and direct access onto the glorious grounds, so if the weather’s fine, we may move outside, at times, to be in Nature. (See photos below)
